Chosen by Jesus

"You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in my name He may give to you." (John 15:16)

There may be moments when you wonder if you are actually called to live a mission-possible life. The enemy's voice can fill you with doubt and make you feel unworthy and unqualified for the mission God has called you to.

You may believe that others are more capable than you and that you have nothing to offer. But you are called to live a mission-possible life.

Mission-possible living is not simply for people who are perfect or seem to have it altogether. God has a history of choosing the unlikely people to work his miracles through. Even when Jesus walked this earth, He chose imperfect people to follow Him in his ministry.

Jesus's twelve disciples were a team of misfits, rejects, and nobodies. He called fishermen, tax collectors, zealots, and others to come follow him in his ministry. He was a rabbi, and they. from all different backgrounds became his students. Many people, past and present, didn't think there was anything special about them. Some of them didn't even get along. In fact the only thing these people had in common was that when Jesus told them to follow him, they went.

The same is true today. God is not seeking out special requirements for us to follow him. He is looking only for our willingness to go wherever He leads. That is what makes us his disciples.

Questions to Ponder

  • What mission has God called you to?

  • Do you feel equipped to live a mission-possible life?

  • Then are you willing to go wherever He sends?
